Today's Yummy Mummy (To Be) Style Crush

Bump+ sequins = pure fabulousness! The lovely Jane Krakowski showed off her baby bump in a sequined Badgley Mischka asymmetrical dress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A. last night- and the actress looked spectacular!

Bumps were clearly the new black, as also attending the festivities was pregnant actress Natalie Portman- who also looked smashing!

Krakowski, who is expecting her first child with fiancé Robert Godley, admits her pregnancy cravings have been on the tame side.

"I haven't really had bizerko ones. I like to drink a lot of juice," Jane told E!. "Only good things for the baby."

With all these leading ladies flaunting their growing tummies, I must admit I am starting to feel a little broody too!

My Bathroom..

... is like my own little spa sometimes. I look the door, wrap myself in a fluffy white towel and just enjoy!

Fever And Mummy Guilt

My precious little munchkin was not well when Mummy came home from work today, snots and a little fever, all she wanted to do was sit in Mummy's lap and cuddle. And my heart ached. Not that I worry that she is not being well looked after, with Bestemor (granny) being utterly besotted with her beautiful granddaughter. But just because I am a mum. Because I feel like I should not leave my baby's side when she is not well. Because I should sit here and rock her and read books and sing silly songs, for hours and hours, as long as it takes, until my little heart is well again.

And so tomorrow, if Nahla wakes up and is still not well, this Mummy will have to take a Sick Baby day- as we are lucky enough in Norway to have those- and just be Mummy- all day. Because that is what matters!

Liar, Liar

Looks like we are all just a bunch of Mommy Liars! Well, if the new survey by British mums-site, Netmums, is to be believed.

"Many mothers are under so much pressure to appear like perfect parents that they cover up how much television their children watch or what they cook their families", according to a survey.

Hm. That strikes me as rather sad reading, I must admit. Now; don't get me wrong, I think we are all prone to the odd white lie, and I am not saying you should never tell a little fib. Sometimes they can be a lifesaver. What is sad, I think, is how the survey stated that is was not so much celebrities or mothers-in-law that made women feel they needed to lie about aspects of their family lives, it was other mums. The parenting site said mothers often made each other feel "inadequate".

Now; where is the girl power in that?! Should we not back each other up? Be a support network? And be kind? Being a mum is the hardest - and most important - job in the world, and at times we all feel like we are not measuring up, like there are never enough hours in the day. But I am certain that it is like that for EVERYONE. Everywhere.

"Mums need to be more honest with each other," said Netmums' Siobhan Freegard. You said it, sister.

The website is calling for a more honest approach to family life and an end to the guilty subterfuge of mothers who feel unable to achieve an idealised view of parenthood. Almost two-thirds of those surveyed said they had been less than honest with other mothers about how well they were coping and almost half covered up financial worries. And almost a quarter of mothers admitted to downplaying how much television their children actually watched - and one in five "span a yarn" over how long they played with their children.
Ms Freegard, co-founder of the site, said there had been another example of a mother who was exhausted and went back to bed during the day, but explained her failure to answer the phone as being because her hands had been covered in flour while making cookies.

It makes me wonder how this all came about, really. Was it always like this, that women take motherhood to a competitive level, a "lets-see-whose-life-is-more-perfect" type of unspoken-of contest. Is it media? All those celebrities that make having a whole brood of babies seem like a, well, walk in the park. Like one of those "don't worry, I'm just gonna skip of to walk the red carpet and look a million dollars, but I leave early because I'm going to make organic homemade rye cookies with my rainbow family before I tuck all twelve of them into bed" type of of mamas (did you get my little unsubtle hint, Ms. Jolie-Pitt?!) Or all the cupcake baking Charlotte's of this world, making the rest of us feel guilty when we sometimes have to serve up fish fingers just because there is not enough hours in the day to lovingly stir the homemade organic risotto?!

Like one women in the survey stated: "It's just very difficult to put your hands up and admit that you parent differently to your friends." What happened to embracing our differences? Or trying to inspire each other instead of passing judgement.

Kudos to Netmums, though, as the website is launching what it calls The Real Parenting Revolution, which encourages parents to accept the reality of how they live, rather than feeling bad about not living up to a myth of perfection. "It's the imperfections that make us human," Ms Freegard said.

Parenting expert and sociologist Frank Furedi said that parents were under "profound pressures" from society. He said that a culture of parenting "incites parents to lie and to turn child-rearing into a performance." He added that even with the best intentions, reports such as these increased the pressure on parents: "Parents are always being judged in one way or another - including by this report. The real solution is to lay off parents and publish less reports."

While Psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos, also interviewed about the findings in the survey, said that it was common for people to feel that they were being judged in a variety situations. She advised parents to avoid comparing themselves with others. "You're in competition with no-one but yourself - all you can do is the best for you and your kid."

Here's to mummies all over, for being the best mum they can be, and for supporting and encouraging other mums in doing the exact same thing!

Family Man

It looks like Scott Disick is one reformed man. The former life-and-soul-of-any-party guy was spotted out with long-time girlfriend and baby mama Kourtney Kardashian and their super-cute Mason yesterday. The little family was out for lunch L.A. and looked like they were enjoying the balmy spring weather conditions.

Kourtney, who has spoke of her desire to have a sibling for Mason sooner rather than later, seem to have gotten her beau keen on the idea as well. Scott recently admitted to E! that he would love to have a baby girl.

"I've always wanted a girl. And then I had Mason and I realized a boy was fantastic," Scott says. "But I would say having a girl would be unbelievable too, to have best of both worlds...When the time comes or if it's meant to be, we'll have another one." Looks like we'll be on Kardashian bump watch in the months to come!

Until You Have Children...

... you don't realize just how much you can get done in the 37 minutes you have available while your little hopeful is playing with some toys. To give you an example:
Today, between 2.16 and 2.53, Nahla was on her absolute most angelic behavior and sat on the floor quietly reading a book and examining an old doll she found. And in that little window of domestic time, this efficient mummy did the following: put on a machine of washing, hung up another to dry, ironed two whole piles of clothes, folded them and put them away, emptied the dishwasher, peeled a whole lot of sweet potato and carrots in preparation for our dinner later and gave myself a mini manicure with the new fab color I had ordered from Butter London that arrived in the post yesterday morning.

Phew! Multi tasking takes on a whole new level with a very active 1-year old in the house!

Bang On Trend

Yesterday morning, when I was running through Zara in a "OMG-how-can-it-be-everyones-birthday-all-at-once-I-have-so-many-presents-to-organize" sort of rush, I could not help (as always!) fall for these oh-so-trendy "treggings" (that is trouser-leggings to you not on the know!) for my little mini fashionista. Just imagine how cool they will look with some of the little shirts I have got for her already!

Sizes in Zara though, just as a little tips, are TINY. I had to get size 24-36 months for Nahla, for stuff I intend her to wear throughout spring and into this summer- when she will really "only" be 15-18 months. Spanish babies must be super-petite!

Bath Time...

... is the best time!

It Strikes Me As A Little Strange...

.... that Nahla just HAS TO empty her sippy cup upside down on the table... EVERY time. Do all kids do that or is it just mine? Like a test? "How many times can I do this, Mummy, before you get away my sippy cup privileges?" Let's just see, Nahla, let's just wait and see...

APP-dicted...

... APP-sessed... I could go on, but you get the picture. My latest download? The Baby Einstein APP! How AMAZINGLY GENIUS is all I can say! Oh, and the talking hippo? Keeps Nahla entertained when I need her to just sit still in her pram for another few minutes till we get to our destination! How did I ever live without an iPhone 4?!?!?!

A Total Must See!

Why did I not hear of this until now?!

Today's Yummy Mummy Style Crush

One of my total mummy heroines, Rhea Durham, was spotted out in a Coldwater Canyon park with two of her four(!) children the other day. It was a girls day out for the model mama and her daughters Ella Rae, 7, and little cutie Grace Margaret, 1. How much fun are the girls having?! It totally makes me long for warmer days, so I can bring Nahla out to play on the swings! Roll on spring!

My Inner Nigella...

... would come bursting out if only this kitchen was mine, I just know it. I mean; just look at it! Can you imagine all the perfect Martha-Stewart-esque cakes I could bake in here? All the Christmas dinners I could cook? The cocktail parties I could host? Baking cookies with my (future) whole brood of children, make out with BF on the counter (because that is what you would do in the perfect kitchen, no?!), and all in all just live the lifestyle that would come with being the owner of such domestic bliss! I keep dreaming!

Sure, What Is Friday...

... without a hot chocolate when you are out for a walk in the freezing cold weather?! Can you tell we are glad the weekend is here and we have so much quality time to look forward to?! BLISS!

Are You Ready For Spring?

Because I know I sure am. So much so that it breaks my heart having to put on winter clothes every morning- still. I am so so sick of snow. And cold. And ice. And dreary clothes. And unsexy shoes. And I could go on. I want summer. I crave heat. I LONG FOR light breezy clothes in pretty pretty colors. So today when I spotted some of the new styles Noa Noa have come up with for the season ahead, it was all I could do to not run in there and spend an entire months salary.

What does make me excited though, is the thought that soon all the shops will start to fill up with the summer collections- and so for the next couple of weeks I plan to plot my summer look for 2011- before hitting the shops; BIG TIME!

Every Night Before Bed...

... we spend a fair few minutes just messing in Mummy and Daddy's bed- just because it is so much fun!

Thursday Night Treats...

... are of the homemade kind. YUM!

When Nahla Doesn't Want To Go To Bed...

... she just tries to frighten Mummy off with some really scary faces! And then Mummy laughs so hard that bedtime is pushed back another few minutes. Nahla: 2, Mummy: 0!

A Busy Week Of Press Launches...

... results in some great goodie bags!

The Breakfast Of Champions...

... surely must be this organic quinoa, flaxseed, sunflower seed and banana porridge?! Healthy, yum and keeps me warm until I get into work- and can help myself to a latte!

Wardrobe Zen...

... is what you experience when you have just spent three hours tidying, ironing, steaming and organizing your wardrobe. Now, please tell me this will simplify my morning dressing routine a little!

Mummy, Stop It!

You're blinding me, don't you see!

Nahla Is THIS Happy...

... when Mummy arrives home from two post-work press launches! And Mummy? Even happier to be home with her princess! No goodie bags in the world will ever measure up!

Bumping It Up

Is there anyone in Hollywood that is not sporting a baby bump at the moment?! Seriously; it is beginning to get difficult to keep up at this stage! Pregnancy is hotter than red soled shoes it seems, and I, for one, is looking forward to some serious mama-to-be fashion moments in spring 2011!

Bananas! My all-time favorite fashionista Rachel Zoe was spotted out and about with her bump - and hubby Rodger Berman - in sunny L.A. over the weekend. The mama-to-be recently revealed that they will be welcoming a little boy later this spring. Fashion royalty to be sure!

Model mama! Not even pregnancy stops a fashionista like Eva Herzigová when Paris Fashion Week is on. The 37-year old is expecting her second child with her partner Gregorio Marsiaj this spring. The longtime couple are also parents to 3-year-old son George.

Black Swan star Natalie Portman wrapped her bump up warm when out for a walk in New York City yesterday with fiance Benjamin Millipied. The mom-to-be was nominated for an Academy Award earlier today for her portrayal of a ballerina in Black Swan. The 29-year old picked up the Golden Globe for the role earlier this month.

Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner are also in the family way. The 29-year-old took to Twitter recently to share the happy news: "I have been wanting to share some amazing news with you all for some time... I'm pregnant! Jared and I couldn't be more excited." Sweet!

Posh'n'Becks surprised everyone when they announced that they are expecting their fourth child this summer, and the question on everyones lips; will there finally be a girl for the superstar couple?? The new baby will join big brothers Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, 8, and 5 1/2-year-old Cruz.

Pink will be one cool mommy I bet. The 31-year old Grammy award-winning singer is currently in her second trimester and will welcome her first baby with husband Carey Hart later this spring.

Boho-mama Kate Hudson was sporting a tell-tale glow as she made her way through Heathrow over the weekend. The actress had been in London with British rocker baby daddy Matt Bellamy. The 31-year-old has son Ryder, 7, from her previous marriage to Black Crows' Chris Robinson.

Jewel is seeing blue! The singer and husband and husband Ty Murray confirmed to People magazine they are expecting a boy!

"We would have been happy either way, of course, but we are so excited to be
having a little boy." Happy news!

Total baby bonanza in other words. Now, are anyone but me looking forward to some crazy/amazing/unusual baby name choices in the months to come?!

Just Finished Reading...

... this book by Roisin Meaney. Don't judge, I am the mother of a very active 1-year old, so being able to rest my eyes on anything for longer than 4 minutes at the time is nothing short of a miracle, hence the very easy read stuff. That said; cute story, engaging happenings and happy ending- what's not to like?!

Fighting For Space

After FINALLY getting new Eames DAR chair today (it was in fact a birthday present from my parents, it has just taken me a LONG time to decide on color!) it turns out that I will by the looks of it have to fight my little munchkin to actually get to sit in it. Nahla (who in fairness have her very own Kartell Lou Lou chair!) took a shine to Mummy's new chair and would not get off it at all- in fact, I think she would have slept there had I let her. But in the end, it took a nice warm bottle of milk to trick her off the chair and into bed. And now Mummy can sit on her brand new chair while she blogs! BLISS! PS: LOVING Nahla's new leopard print PJ's! That girl is all about style!
