Fabulous Families

The always gorgeous Kourtney, Scott and Mason looked the image of the picture perfect family as they checked out the turtles at the Commons Mall in L.A earlier this week. The fabulous threesome were only short of little Penelope, who was missing out on the family fun and breakfast outing. Seriously, these guys make such cute babies, it would be a shame to stop after two!

On A Day With Many Deadlines...

... I am even more so grateful for my Nespresso machine!

My "Summer Style" Pins...

... on Pinterest, is making me LONG for summer in a whole new way. Like; I look at these pictures and YEARS for heat, sunshine, maxi dresses, iced lattes, saltwater, the smell of suncream, bikinis, Havaianas and sand between my toes! Does these pictures make you feel that way??

Today's Yummy Mummy Style Crush

Anine Bing, fashion designer, model and absolute yummy mama extraordinaire. I AM in LOVE with this combination of floaty summer dress, biker jacket and Converse, and am now praying for the weather to heat up so I can rock a similar look! Anine, who writes a mummy blog for Swedish magazine Mama, is currently pregnant on her baby no. 2 - and is making maternity dressing seem like the coolest thing in the world! Amaze.

Cooking For My Growing Belly...

... just got a little more interesting! Thank you Amazon for your suggesting feature - I fell hook, like and sinker!

Weekend Hightlights

A Mother's Day card from Nahla that made me cry. OK, so I'm pregnant and hormonal, so it doesn't take all that much to get me going, but still; how sweet is this poem?!

Being served breakfast in bed by my two loves. After being allowed to snuggle under the covers till well after 10 am. I am one lucky mama!

My little tiggeriffic Tiger was pretty pleased to have her face painted - again.

The arrival of my latest order from My-Wardrobe.com. I LOVE how fast and amazing their service is!

Weather spring-y enough for my little munchkin to wear her her new tops that we bought from Etsy. Seriously; LOVE Etsy!

So all in all; who can complain about it being Monday again when our weekend was as good as this?!

How Can It Be Monday Again?!

This past weekend just whizzed by in a whirl of activities - as per usual. Balletclass (Nahla), Spa-appointment for maternity massage - which was utter bliss (me) and putting together a chest-of-drawer for the baby (BF). As well as the usual cleaning, cooking, washing, shopping, lunching kind of stuff that goes down on any given weekend. It never cease to amaze me just how quickly those hours between Friday afternoon and Monday morning  go by.

And now; back to Monday, work and deadlines. Again. Maternity leave countdown: 7 weeks!

Planning The Perfect Hospital Bag...

... takes a little research. And having given birth before, I know at least one thing: Leave the skinny J.Brand's at home, you are not going to fit into them leaving the hospital. I learnt that painful lesson. But that (and the comfy Juicy bottoms you WILL need to go home in) aside, there are a few other things that totally need to go with to hospital for when you are off to welcome baby:

Some kind of refreshing face-spritzer for when you are in labour and need a little cooling off. I love this one from Vichy. A bargain hero.

A make-up bag with just the essentials you need to look glowing in the post-birth photographs. Hint: Giving birth gives a glow - to put in mildly - so all you need is a little tinted moisturizer and maybe some mascara. Og, and don't forget hairbands! It is ESSENTIAL for when you are in labour, and the last thing you want is your sticky wet hair to be all over you face.

A comfy bath robe for walking around while in labour and also after when getting dressed is not really on the agenda. I love my Juicy one, it is perfectly soft and lovely. It makes feeding your bundle easy, and is not so long that it is dragging along that (rather dirty) hospital ward floor.

Healthy, energy-giving snacks for labour and after. I HEART Larabar. Vegan, raw and absolutely packed full of goodies.

Cute swaddles to wrap your brand new bundle in  - and also perfect for covering up a little when you are feeding. Aden + Anais does the cutest ones, and they are HUGE. And so so soft.

All you tech essentials for both entertainment during labour (if you, unlike me, will have time for that sort of thing), and also Skype calls to eager family members after delivery. Oh, and they do a good job keeping your man entertained too!

Now, what am I missing...?!

On This Rainy Day...

... Nahla is off from school, and hence we are busy girls with about a million errands to run. But sure that doesn't matter in the slightest, because today is FRIDAY! Which we all know is one thing: The absolute best day of the week!

After Playschool Snack...

... in full ballerina mode...

Racing Towards More Deadlines...

... is Ok when you LOVE what you do. And I do. I LOVE my job. I LOVE that I get to write about some many different things and topics. I LOVE that get to talk to some many different people. That I get to travel. To see things. To sometimes struggle with an intro or ending to a story for hours, only for it to fall together perfectly in the end. I LOVE that my editors correct me and ask me to re-write things 400 times, or find new pictures for something, or talk to someone else about something. I LOVE how it makes me a better journalist and I LOVE how I learn new things every day.

My maternity leave starts in less than 2 months, and much as I am looking forward to it - which I am - I also know I will miss working for those 10 months something crazy. I know, I know, being home with newborn + having a 3-year old from before is hardly going to be a holiday, but it is different kind of work. Does it make me selfish that I would never give up work to stay at home full time? I don't think so - much as I also respect the women who decide to do so. I am a better person when I also get to go out and do what I trained to do. I think it makes me a better mum too. I can fulfill both parts of me, feel like I am contributing to the family economy, give my children good work ethics, get a breather where I am not just mummy, but also professional me. I feel blessed to be able to do both, and lucky that I can.

Now; where is my coffee?!

Pregnancy Yoga

I never really got around to joining a pregnancy yoga class when I was expecting Nahla. Things were so hectic and busy, we were traveling all the time, and I moved country and house and it was generally just a busy time. But then again, it was my first pregnancy, and I had the luxury of being in total control of my own time. When I was tired, I slept. When I was hungry, I ate. And so on and so forth.

This time around, however, my time is not entirely my own. As all mothers know. I sleep only at night - and even then I am always short of a few hours. Although that is probably more to do with my crazy work schedule than Nahla. Naps are a no-no. Like; where would I fit one on?! I consume a lot of my meals standing up - or on the go. Hello smoothies. I am mothering and working and keeping the house together and trying to squeeze in some couple time too, and before you know it; 29 weeks of this pregnancy has gone by without me having a lot of time to even ponder upon it.

And so last week I signed up for pregnancy yoga classes - just to carve out that little bit of time when I can focus and me - and the new baby in the making. I LOVE yoga. Think it is the most amazing relaxing and grounding thing ever. And even more so when pregnant. So for 1 1/2 hour every week, I am taking time to tune out and tune in. And I am loving every minute of it. Namaste!

Oh, Alessandra... Talk about perfect casual summer dressing. Ok so it helps having legs that start around your neck and just goes on and on and on, but still. Roll on summer; I want to meet it looking like THIS!

Scenes From Our House...

This mama is trying - as always - to find a balance between work and life, and is wowing to get better at blog updates!

So delighted with the new Aden + Anais swaddle I found 50% off in Avoca the other day. And sure red stars are suitable whether baby turns out to be a prince or a princess!

N is currently into doing shows with her new microphone. And we have to sit down and listen. Sometimes for really long stretches at a time. Other times we have to stand up and dance. Is stage school in the cards?? Part of me is hoping that this is just a phase...

Happy Tuesday Night

Much as my days are a hectic blur of work, school-runs, ballet-classes, play-dates and family-time, it is important to squeeze in a little me-time too - as any mama will know. So tonight, as BF is glued to the TV and the Real Madrid game, I have filled the bath, slapped on my most favorite Sisley face mask, lit some candles and dug out a book I have been reading for months, yet never can seem to finish. Here's to blissful, delightful mommy-time!

Spring Is In The Air...

... and I for one am LOVING it! Seriously; winter is just not my thing. And never will be. So now, having flipped the calendar to the month of March, and with Easter only being around the corner, I am ready for the happy, sunny, colourful days of spring. And as a result, pastel colours have started sneaking their way into the house again. Tulips on the table; is there anything sweeter? And my total crush colour of the season: Turqouise. LOVE!
