Sunday Night Mayhem

Much as I love my Sundays to be tranquil and relaxed and Diptique candle-scented while I pad around in my (spotlessly clean house off course) in my just-bought-them-in-Edinburgh amazingly soft cashmere socks the reality tend to be somewhat different.

Sunday night is most often the night where I feel I have to plan - and get ready for - the new week about to commence. So cue I am planning next week's dinners, doing piles of laundry, ironing, folding and putting away clean clothes, tidy the house after a weekend of a lot of colouring, lego-building and other toddler-related mess, planning my work-schedule for the week ahead. re-reading and deleting a lot of e-mails and every other I-just-like-to-be-on-top-of-them household chore. And every Sunday I keep wishing for an extra weekday - one that is just MINE - where I can do all this stuff so that Sunday can again be as I described it above. Here's hoping!

Weekend Bliss

Monster-smoothies are a must in the mornings - drinking stuff is so much more fun when it is totally yucky green - as we  call it in our house.

New Lego set was a total success. Nahla is now officially in the playing-with-Lego age!

We took the easy way out for dinner today - and paired these little fish with broccoli and puréed sweet-potato. 

My gorgeous bouquet of roses have lasted a full week on the coffee table - and that despited the fact that they cost only €3,50!

Two for Mummy, two for Nahla. Who needs more complicated cooking than this when it is just us girls for a week?!

Mummy Mornings...

... means that while you try and find your Zen while you knock back a cup of hot water with lemon and ginger (eat your heart out, Miranda Kerr!).....

... you might also have to spoon yoghurt into a zombie-like-cartoon-watching toddler, hang up lots of little clothes to dry, empty the dishwasher and clean up after a serious train crash. Did anyone say multi-tasking?

Today...

... Nahla had some playtime with her baby, Alva (named after a friend's baby girl Alva!). She has never really taken an interest in her two dolls and dolls pram until the last couple of days, so I think any day now we will have to take a walk around the block with little Alva in her pram!

... then we met Irish bestie Sarah for a lovely girly day in Dublin, which included a Prosecco fueled lunch at favorite lunch spot Carluccio's - the penne giardiniera is to die for!

... and now we are home, and snuggled up on the sofa, ready for TV, dinner and a very relaxing time! BLISS!

Nahla's New Bike...

... purchased by her very loving Bestefar, is currently the very favorite thing ever. Oh, and it's pink off course! PS: loving my new blue/green cushios by the way. Chevron rocks!

Happiness Is...

... being able to twirl Bestefar (Granddad) so utterly around your finger that those Mickey Mouse Clubhouse traintracks you have been lusting after are now yours! Nahla knows exactly how to turn on her charm, that much is sure!

Mummy's Vintage Dollhouse...

... from the not-so-stylish mid 80s is still super-cool to Nahla - who thinks nothing of the horrid carpets and the very floral wallpaper. Mummy, no the other hand, is thinking some new decor wouldn't go amiss. I wonder can you order that raw concrete look wallpaper is sizes that would fit this mini-bedroom...

A Day In The Life...

... of two busy girls...


The breakfast: Raspberry oatmeal smoothie with a big dollop of yummy Amana Prana oil.


The toy-of-the-day: Doll pushed around in an overfilled shopping cart. I sure as heck hope this is not how Nahla thinks it's done - that some psychologist some day is going to hit me with the news that she was carted around on one too many shopping trips as a baby... Then again; imagine how little Harper Seven must feel? Sure her life is one long just-popping-from-Prada-and-into-Barney's shopping frenzy...


The lunch: Baby potato and chorizo salad. YUM.


The purchase: This sweet neon colored print for BF for Valentine's Day.


The baking-project: Chocolate cake. It is still pretty cold, and winter calls for chocolate. Simple as.

There you go, that was our sweet-as-the-come Tuesdays.

Motherhood...

... means accepting the fact that your house will not look like a scene from an Elle Decoration shoot again... At least not till after 8 PM...

Where Ends Don't Meet

Nahla has a newfound love of trains. So much so, in fact, that a lot of the other very pink, very girly stuff she got, both for Christmas and her birthday are getting slightly ignored. The problem, however, is that Mummy SUCKS at getting the train-tracks to meet up. Seriously, it's lucky I never decided to go into engineering! So, much as I think mummies are super-human and can manage almost everything on their own, sometimes daddies do come in useful. Like in the case of the tricky train-tracks. And when spiders hide in the bathroom laundry basket. And when require-battery-toys strangly just stop working and minis are having meltdowns. Come to think of it, daddies can be pretty handy to have around...

These Strange Creatures...

... have moved into our house. In her advent calendar present, which off course started yesterday as it was December 1st., Nahla got these two stick dolls, Knerten and his wife Caroline, who are characters from a popular Norwegian children's book, recently made into a film.
And since their arrival in our house they have been carted carefully around, sat at the table with us for dinner and even camped in bed with us last night. (As Nahla was allowed a sleeping-in-Mummy's-bed treat. Also a bit of a treat for Mummy, it must be said. I mean; it is anything nicer than snuggling into your warm sweet toddler on cold winter nights?!) Anyway, Knerten and Caroline shared a bed with us last night, and it makes me wonder just what they got up to, because...


... this morning (in Nahla's second advent calendar present) their little bundle, Lille Knerten, arrived! Caroline sure got her figure back quickly, no?! I mean; look at those scrawny hips!

This Shop Window...

... made by little munchkin excited beyond belief earlier today, as we strolled passed one of the biggest toystores in the city. And seeing my little love so happy and full of joy, sure it made my mummy-heart skip a lil' beat. And so now I am thinking; maybe one of these cars needs to make its way and join the pile under our Christmas tree in a month's time... Dear Santa; do you have our address yet??

Dolls...

... are still not all that interesting. Not even La-La Loopsy. Her pink and green "dinadours" on the other hand rock! Funny girl.

I Know A Little Girl...

... who will be pretty excited when she opens her present from Oldemor (great grandmother) come Christmas morning!

De-Limbed

Sometimes - when you have two one-year olds making a mess of your house, like Nahla and Emine were doing here last night, accidents happen. Luckily, this time, it was neither of our munchkins that were harmed, but instead Nahla's baby-doll - unnamed as Nahla only has a mild interest in dolls as of yet.

So anyway, in a fight over who got to play with the doll, the poor things' arm came off. At which point Nahla, who up until Emine wanted to play with it, never had shown any interest whatsoever in the freakin' doll, turned to Emine and went: "Emine broke Nahla's doll!" I fear I have a mini-drama-queen on my hands...

Some Toys...

... really are worth their weight in gold. Or Louboutins, for that matter; a currency I rate slightly higher than gold even. And this pink plastic house, which I paid a mere € 22 for, are one of the best investments I ever made in terms of time it has occupied my little love. So dear Mr. Claus, if you are listening, these kinda toys will be greatly appreciated come December 25th! Thanks!

Sweet Sundays

While Mummy gets to catch up on the laundry/cleaning/packing to move a whole apartment, Nahla gets to catch up on quality time with her beloved toys! Oh, Sundays; how we love you!

I Wonder...

... would this Hermes bag look as cool if it was stuffed with diapers, baby-wipes, Hello Kitty plasters, juice boxes, tissues, the odd plastic fairy, a Mickey Mouse DVD, a very bruised banana, three mini-boxes of raisins and a headless Teletubby?! No? I Didn't think so. In some areas, it seems motherhood and fashion do not mix all that well...
