... the amazing Scott Schulman of über hot blog The Sartorialist did this sweet photoshoot in conjunction with cult American beauty brand Kiehl's. Love how sweet these images of fathers and their children are. In general there is something so special about seeing a man play with his child or children. Something about that tough masculinity that just melts away once in the company of their beloved children. So strong, so protective, so loving.
It is always that gamble, when you fall in love with someone, how will you know if they will make good fathers? A lot of men have never really had much interaction with babies until presented with their own, and many are outright frightened by these screaming wrinkly bundles when handed someone else's offspring. But then, I think, when their own newborn is placed in their arms, nature kicks in. Suddenly they are a father. Providers. Preotectors.
I remember when Nahla, all purple looking and so very brand new, was placed in BFs arms. He looked at her, she looked at him, and I just knew. I knew that, despite all his fears and worries and however unplanned and un-strategically timed this pregnancy had been, he was already crazy about her - and would always be. And ever since I keep finding myself looking at the two of them when together and just feel so lucky. This guy, who I barely knew myself when we all of a sudden found ourselves on the verge of parenthood, has turned out to be the very best daddy one could wish for. And his reward? A little girl who loves him to the moon and back. Lucky daddy. Lucky Nahla. Lucky me!
