Milestone Baby Cards...
... is a godsend if you are anything like me and suffer from constant guilt over the baby-books that you never quite get around to updating. Like; I see the books - especially Nahla's as it has been sitting on the shelf longer - and mentally list all the things I MUST remember to write down in it. Like: What were her first words, really. When did she stop wearing diapers. How much did she weigh at her 1-year check-up. What did she look like when she started play-school. And so on and so guilty.
And then I came across these adorable clever little cards on Instagram: Milestone Cards. And to all you other guilt-tripped mamas out there: Here is the quick - and mega-cute - solution to your - and my - problem. Because even if you are far too sleep deprived/stressed out/time-starved to manage to sit down and write down all the milestones your little cherub passes in the babybook, sure we can all manage to stick a card next to the baby, wip out our iPhones and capture the Kodak moment right then and there. Easy Peasy. Now my only heartache is that I did not order there pre Baby Luca's arrival, because sure he has already whizzed past the "Today I am 1 week/1 month/First Smile milestones - and no card was there to capture the moment.
But that is all about to change. Watch out baby-book; there is another moment-catcher on the block!

2 Months Today...
... and already such an AWSOME little person! Around here we struggle to remember what we did with all our time before Luca made his arrival. Well; this mama does anyway. Writing 7-8 articles a week suddenly seems like nothing but a vague memory... Happy 2-month birthday, little munchkin!

My Mini Ballerina...
... had her very first ballet class yesterday. At the Twinkle Toes School of Ballet. I know; so cute it could melt your freakin' heart! The complete ballet outfit, purchased at John Lewis in Edinburgh back in May, finally came in handy! My 3-year old(!) had a ball, and thought it was a very big-girl thing to be doing, going to ballet. And as for Mummy and Daddy, we did what most other parents of heartmeltingly cute 3-year olds do when they watch them do ballet for the very first time: Took 5000 pictures, filmed countless clips on our iPhones and swallowed hard to get avoid looking like saps for crying over cute ballerinas!

2,5 Yesterday...
... which makes me wonder; how has it been 2,5 years already??!! And in other ways; has she only been part of our lives for as little as 2,5 years??? How is that possible? I breathe her, I sleep her, I would die for her, and yet she is the person in my life that I have known for the shortest amount of time. That is motherhood for you, so all-consuming and empowering and crazy crazy good.

It's April Already...

... and my days are so busy, so crazy and so hectic, all I want to do, is tell someone to please slow down time a little. I am not complaining, it is great being a freelance journalist when work is flowing in, but at the same time, it IS pretty hard to make sure you separate work and private life when your office is always with you on your iPhone/iPad/iMac.
Anyway, this week we are in total Easter-mode and are more than ready for the long-weekend ahead. Nahla has made the cutest decorations in playschool, and off course they get pride position on the mantel - for the world to see! My little creative munchkin!

She Is 2!

My magical perfect gorgeous funny little fairy celebrated her second birthday on December 26th, and this Mummy still cannot seem to figure out how these 2 years has flown by! It seems like yesterday I was fretting as it was approaching her first birthday! A fun day was had by all, last but not least the birthday girl herself, who when her big day rolled around, was on her third day straight of opening presents! I cannot believe I have a 2-year old still!!

Bump!

Look at my poor little love! Her very first proper head bump! On Friday afternoon, my little princess and I were doing one of our favorite things we do upon arriving home in Naas, namely browse around in the Barker & Jones bookstore on the mainstreet. And in the midst of all this browsing and Look-At-The-Handy-Manny-tools-in-this-magazine and twirling (as toddlers often do!), Nahla took a giant tumble into one of the display tables and this was the result. Obviously this Mummy freaked out big time! It was like when somebody bumps their head in a cartoon - the bump just seemed to grow out of her head in no time! All blue and huge and scary! But my tough little cookie, after having wiped away the initial tears, took it all in her stride, well helped by the chocolate lollipop provided by the nice store manager!
And now, 4 days later, all that is left on my little love's perfect forehead, is a tiny little yellow bruise, not even visible to those who are not aware of the tumble adventure. And this Mummy feels like she can cross another thing of on her Things Parents Have To Cope With list!
