... and I for one am LOVING it! Seriously; winter is just not my thing. And never will be. So now, having flipped the calendar to the month of March, and with Easter only being around the corner, I am ready for the happy, sunny, colourful days of spring. And as a result, pastel colours have started sneaking their way into the house again. Tulips on the table; is there anything sweeter? And my total crush colour of the season: Turqouise. LOVE!

As The Rain Keep Pouring Down...
... I find myself dreaming of this amazing balcony! I mean; imagine doing your research while lounging in THAT hammock?! Or sipping a hot chocolate while curled up under one of those throws? I am sold. Countdown to summer: Too many days!

Fall Dreaming
Maybe it is the rather catastrophic summer weather we are having, or maybe it is being a journalist and always being a season ahead, but I cannot help but swooning over all the amazing fall/winter preview press releases that are flooding my inbox these days. The latest one? These amazing shots for H&M Home's upcoming interior season, where they are super-influenced by cowboys and indians, it seems, and rustic colours, navajo-patterns, leather and and horses feature heavily. How fab. How chic. How v. Isabel Marant-y of them!

All White Rooms
In my job I come across a crazy amount of stunning homes. Some features I make myself, and I LOVE getting to meet people in their house and making a gorgeous story about it all. Some features my talented colleagues make, and I marvel at stunning picture after stunning picture. Other homes I admire through the crazy amounts of magazines I buy and blogs I read. But much as I appreciate lots of styles and a variety of beautiful ways homes can be decorated in, I am myself a very very big fan of white. Plain, peaceful, classic, modern, contemporary and stunning white.
Off course I like the odd bit of color thrown in for good measure. A little Missoni zig-zag here, a pink velvet cushion there. And lots of fresh flowers and candles, off course. But overall, I find myself drawn towards white and white and more white. Like with bedlinen. I can ONLY sleep in white sheets. Plates need to be white too. And candles. Dining chairs; again white.
And as BF and I are very much in house-hunting mode these days, you can only imagine how my little design-obsessed brain is whirling with ideas and must-buy lists and other plans and projects!

Kitchen Confidential
I must admit - with pride - that I am having a bit of a Domestic Goddess moment lately. I mean; in the last week alone I made a batch of spelt breadrolls, cinnamon buns, cranberry and pistachio biscotti, rustic tomato soup, hot thai chicken soup and a chocolate cake. And so now I am having some serious "I want an amazing, fully-kitted-with-everything-I-might-ever-need kitchen" dreams. Like this GORGEOUS one that was featured in an issue of Living Etc. a while back. The chandelier alone is enough to make me swoon.
Also, I need some baking stuff. Starting with the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. I HEART the Hummingbird Bakery in London! It is always on my stop-list when in town. Also I need a proper KitchenAid machine - and this pink one makes my heart flutter. Some cute retro scales would be good too. And some wooden trays. I have a little obsession with cool trays - I mean, they are perfect for displaying stuff on, even pretty books and candles.
Now; HOUSE-HUNTING!

Nahla's New Bike...
Wall Candy
The other day I ordered this very amazing print by Swedish illustrator Cassandra Rhodin from online art-store Wonderwall that I have become slightly obsessed with lately. And now I am getting so very eager for the postman to arrive with this picture so I can get it up on my too-white-and-boring wall! LOVE! And the worst part was, that when I was browsing to website to order this, sure I saw like 10 other prints I really NEED as well. Oh, Mr. Mastercard, we are in trouble!

This Summer...
... and I want to fill my wrists with candy coloured bracelets like these - neon ROCKS.
... and last, but not least, I want to wear colours and florals and fabulous lace and neon! Roll on, summer 2012!

Cover Girls

Having been interviewed by a good friend, former colleague and fellow journalist, Ciara, about how to shop in and furnish your house with Ikea, Nahla and Mummy made their debut on the cover of the Sunday magazine in the Irish Sunday Times today. Nahla, it must be said, was a natural in front of the camera according to the photographer, and had tons of fun. And as for Mummy; it must mentioned that the house is not quite as tidy behind the camera as in front of it, but sure; houses are for living in, no?? Fun times!

This Living Room...

... made my heart flutter a little. Seriously. The sofa. The acrylic side table - complete with Tom Ford book. The cushions. The Prada Marfa sign - which I have been completely obsessed with ever since spotting it on the van der Woodsens' wall in Gosspi Girl. This is EXACTLY what I want the sofa corner of my living room to look like!

It Has To Be White

I have an obsession with crisp white bed linen - much to the amusement of BF and others who do not on all accounts share my view. I think it might stem from from LOVE of hotel beds. I seriously have the best sleeps ever in nice hotels. The nicer the hotel, the better the sleep, if you ask me. And here comes the bed linen idea, because when you stay in hotels, all the bed linens tend to be crisp and lovely and whiter than white.
Is there anything quite like sinking into a bed with white, fresh, newly washed-and-ironed sheets? Nope. And so I have just ordered us so more. My latest loves? One set on satin cotton from H&M Home and another from The White Company, both equally beautiful and clean and oh-my-God-I-cannot-wait-to-go-to-bed-now beautiful.
Beds should be luxurious, in a way where you can't wait to get into to them and dread having to get out of them kind of way. Buy the best bed/mattress/bed linens you can afford. Look after them well. Iron your sheets for that extra crisp-ness factor. Change your linens at least once a week - because nothing beats that just-put-on freshness.
And trust me; you will have the best sleeps, the hottest encounters and the most luxurious mornings you have ever had. And even if you wake up with a toddler sprawled all over your head - like we on most mornings do - it will just feel that little bit more fun and cute than it might have if our bed had been a less lovely place to wake up!

Black Or White

I am totally obsessed with cool kitchen lately - maybe it is because I am getting in touch with my inner Nigella with all the cooking I have been doing? Anyway, I keep browsing the mighty web - as well as my ever-growing pile of magazines for inspiring designs, because I just know that when BF and I finally decide where we should be buying - as we as of yet are renting - I will totally tackle the kitchen first. Regardless - even if it is brand spanking new, as I am sure I will need to have it my very own way. And today, my very own way is HEARTING these two stunning - yet totally different - kitchens. How fab are they??

Mummy's Vintage Dollhouse...
... from the not-so-stylish mid 80s is still super-cool to Nahla - who thinks nothing of the horrid carpets and the very floral wallpaper. Mummy, no the other hand, is thinking some new decor wouldn't go amiss. I wonder can you order that raw concrete look wallpaper is sizes that would fit this mini-bedroom...

New Wall Candy

I have been seeing these super-cool poster by Mini & Maximus EVERYWHERE lately, and have just known that they would look PERFECT in our house. And so yesterday, as I was having a moment of weak willpower due to some epic tantrum episodes, I decided enough was enough, and ordered the posters - both of them - oh the treat!
And now all I have to do is wait for them to drop into my mailbox shortly and just go about planning where to put them...

Saturday = Ikea Trip...
... and I am SO looking for some inspiration for ways to store my clothes - which I have attempted tidying up today, but as i totally need more storage, it was not all that successful. To say the least. I have my clothes in the spare bedroom - which I have more or less converted into my very own dressing room (oh, the luxury!), but I just don't have enough places to put stuff. So currently I am also taking up half the wardrobe space in the main bedroom. As well as the entire chest of drawers. Much to BF's frustration. So I really really need some stuff. And a mirror. Maybe a rail...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE rails for how easy it makes finding things. And you can try out combinations and let them hang out till you want to wear them...

If this was my dressing room, I don't think I'd ever surface! I HEART everything about this room - including the clothes, which belong to J. Crew's AMAZING Jenny Lyons, as this shoot was done in her Brooklyn brownstone in NYC. Oh, Jenna, how do you always get it so right?!

Kourtney K. is one of my favorite celebrity mamas, and her wardrobe sure doesn't disappoint either. I love the idea of the ladder to reach all the stuff you keep on the top shelves! Clever AND stylish, LIKE!

This I LOVE. That big gilded mirror would make me SO happy. I once came across a mirror like this in TK Maxx, and I am still kicking myself for not getting it. How stupid was I?!

This his'n'her's room also makes my heart flutter a little, just because it is so perfectly tidy and functional, which a dressing room is meant to be. But; I don't know if I want to share my little haven, though - I would need all this just FOR ME...
Oh, roll on Saturday, I feel some serious storage shopping coming on!
