Weekends Go By Too Fast...

... and before you know it, Monday is upon us again. And as if to make it worse; it is raining kittens outside my windows. On the day that I have to leg it into town to meet up with some very cool girlies for lunch. But hey; what's a little Monday Blues when the weekend was as sweet as it was!

Friday started with a trip to the hairdressers for this mama. Because when the rest of you is getting bigger by the day, at least making sure your hair looks fab, is a total feel-good treat!

Nahla was all excited about the prospect of chocolate brownie as a lunch treat at the stunning Carton House yesterday, where we went for a walk - and scoot - around the magnificent grounds...

Seriously; could it BE more country fabulous?! On a crisp cold January day, none the less.

And now: Ready for the week!

Cupcakes'R'Us

Just another little snapshot from this past Sunday's Father's Day celebration. I don't know about the rest of you, but this little family pigged out on the yummiest of cupcakes from Avoca - as well as Nahla's and Mummy's homemade marshmallow-pops - dipped in crushed Skittles. Sugar-shock? Check.

A Little Macaroon Madness

This afternoon, as Nahla does not have play-school on Tuesdays and Mummy had some errands to run in the city, we decided to make the most of a speedy trip into the city. And what can possibly be a better - or more girly - treat than some yummy macaroons from Laduree? That's right; not a thing. The only problem? Trying to decide between salted caramel, rose petals, pistachio, raspberry, lemon... I could go on!

Treats Are Allowed

Much as I am obsessed with healthy, home-made, nutritious, clean, fresh food, that does not mean that we never have treats. Because off course we do. And those times feel pretty amazing as this is not something we indulge in every day. So this morning, as we had baked these gorgeous cinnamon buns last night, Nahla and Mummy kicked back with a very yummy breakfast of warm cinnamon buns and hot chocolates - made from these cool sticks that you just stir out in hot milk and voila; hot chocolate. Needless to say it was the perfect start to a rainy morning.

Eating healthy 80% of the time means that you can afford to throw caution to the wind the other 20%, and just enjoy and indulge. After all; life is not the same without a little chocolate in it! Or cinnamon buns, for that matter!

, I think, means that you can afford to splurge and enjoy when

A Day In The Life...

... of two busy girls on this windy Wednesday:

Nahla started a new creche/Montessori School, and took to it like a duck to water. My little love LOVED her new "school" and did not want to leave when I came to get her. AMAZING. We are happy that this will from now on be her school for 3 days every week. Mummy gets to work during normal daytime hours, and Nahla get to play and learn and have fun. It's a win-win.

The we wrecked the washing machine by doing a white-wash with an added metal tub of Hello Kitty lipgloss. As one does... Note to self: NEVER EVER forget to check the washing machine for funny things that don't belong there before putting on a wash!

Clever Mummy has downloaded some Nahla-friendly book onto her iPod. Which is proving a roaring success.

This fashion-loving mama got to rock her new green favorite skirt, picked up in Zara last week. And also treated herself to a little "I-have-been-wanting-it-forever-and-now-it-was-my-paycheck-gift-from-me-to-me" something from Shopbop. Hint: It is a bag by a certain Mr. Wang...

Post Pre-School Pick-Up Nahla and Mummy treated ourselves to some take-out latte (Mummy) and a pink frosted cupcake (Nahla) before we again headed home to get dinner on the table for Daddy/BF before he returns from work.

Sweet Mid-Week, guys!

A Night In...

...all by myself is what I have planned for this evening. That is when I finish work and what feels like 4000 deadlines. And then a couple of hours spent running around the city looking for the last Christmas presents. But then, when I walk through the doors this evening, I am planning to indulge in a night of utter me-time! And I cannot wait!

Currently Doing...

... very little. Apart from reading the latest issue of Elle Decoration Norway, watching an old episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and eating my way through a bar of Green & Blacks organic dark chocolate. Happy Wednesday!

It's Most Definitively Autumn...

Cold, grey and foggy best desribes the weather outside my office window. Which makes me long for one of these! Preferably from United Bakeries. YUM.

1 tsp instant espresso powder

chocolate syrup for serving

Directions:

Place all ingredients (except for chocolate syrup) in blender. Process until smooth. Place in a glass and drizzle with chocolate syrup. And add a straw - it just makes it even sweeter! ENJOY!

Thursday Night Snack

As my two loves are flying back from Ireland this very afternoon, I have decided that not only will we head out to YaYa's (my favorite Oslo Thai food place) upon their arrival for some yummy dinner, but I will also make some nice and crunchy snacks for us to enjoy when we get home. Domestic goddess-hood, here I come!

Anyway, I came acorss this very delishious looking recipe on this very yummy blog, and as it looks to be: 1. Easy 2. Not too unhealthy and 3. Cheap as chips I have decided that this will be it:

Sweet and Salty Roasted Chicpeas

•1 can (14 oz) chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained
•2 teaspoons olive oil
•1 teaspoon cinnamon or your spice(s) of choice
•1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
•1/4 teaspoon salt

1.Place chickpeas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a Silpat.

2.Bake at 450 F for 30 minutes. (You didn't miss anything here. You don't oil or season them until after they are done.

3.Transfer chickpeas to a bowl and mix thoroughly with the rest of the ingredients.

Dig in! Sure they look absolutely yum, no?

YUM!

I was flicking through the pages of Sweet Paul's yummy blog and came across the recipe for this very yummy looking milkshake. And decided that thise will have to be made this weekend - as a very summery (we don't care that autumn most definitively has arrived!) treat!

Strawberry shake with marshmallows
Serves 2
1,5 cup milk
2 large scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup pitted strawberries (now, where to get those in Spetember might be an issue...)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
6 marshmallows, cut in half

Place milk, ice cream, vanilla and strawberries in a blender and whizz until smooth.

Press the cut part of the marshmallows onto the inside of the glasses.
Pour the shake and serve.

Enjoy!

Oh, Sweet paul, we so will!

Chez Mummy And Nahla...

.... we like to start the day with a book in bed. Especially on Mondays. Even more so on rainy Mondays. So today, the snooze button can very well allow us 15 luxurious minutes of cuddly reading time before we both start our week. Happy Monday!
